8x10 Speaker Project
(Click pics for larger pics)
Cabinets would be 12x12x24 yielding 1.7cf in a sealed design.
I wanted to build 4 units
and make the best use of the plywood. Edge rails were 3/4 x 3/4 (cut down 1x2
pine)
Boxes assembled and cut for 10" speakers. Front panel is
recessed 1 inch for grills.
All are screwed and glued, both edges and rails.
Covering is glued in place. It is basically carpet from home depot using floor glue.
Edging is done, corners and feet are in place I used contact
cement to glue it on the front due
to the tight angle. Metal corners added.
Speakers and Grill inserts are in place, wired with in/out NL4
connectors and padded
with fiberglass inside Front grill frames are 3/4 x 3/4 cut back for edges of
speakers.
Metal screw is used to prevent sag in the frame when grill cloth was stretched
on.
Speakers are 8 ohms in series giving the cabinet a 16 ohm impedance.
Grill cloth added, and tested. Each is 16 ohm and four units
connected together
yields a 4 ohm load. sounds good!
